US Perimeter Run 2023

Our 2023 US Perimeter Run takes us from the center of Texas to the furthest points of the continental United States.  We begin D01 in the middle of the night, departing Waco TX and riding along the western Texas border for our longest day of 1,314 miles over 18:55.  On D02 we traverse the deserts of the southern US border to California, riding though San Diego, then Los Angeles to Sacramento.  From central California we ride to the furthest point west and then furthest point north, while winding along the Pacific Coast Highway and through North American Red Wood forests to Canada’s border on D03.  D04 takes us east through the Rocky Mountains and down onto the Great Plains.  On D05 we continue across the remote plains to our midpoint in Ripon WI.  Hosted by UCD, will conduct +5k Oil Changes and detailed safety inspections at a special location, hosted by “UCD”.

 

On D06 we circle around the Great Lakes and up to Plattsburg NY.  We reach the furthest point east in Lubec ME and then ride south, along the Eastern Seaboard to Philadelphia PA for D07.  On D08 we continue down the Atlantic coast to Jupiter FL.  On D09 we reach the southern border checkpoint in Key West, accomplishing our W/N/E/S at.  Then we ride north across the Everglades and around the Gulf Coast to Milton FL.

 

Early into D10 we accomplish our +10k Miles / 10 goal at the first checkpoint.  We complete our journey riding through the Mississippi Delta’s swamp lands and tall pines to Central Texas.  

 

This ride is estimated to be +10,690 Miles in 141 hours of riding, averaging approx. 69.8 mph.

Derwood to Devil's Backbone Run 2021

In cooperation with Derwood, the Republic of Texas Motorcycle Rally, and Austin Speed Shop, OHCTX will host a single-day run from the ROTMR campgrounds to Devils Backbone Tavern and back.

We will rally up and depart from Austin Speed Shop a.k.a. ROTMR HQ by 10am Friday morning. Our route will guide us through the Texas Hill Country west of Austin. Along the way we will stop in to hang out at Devil’s Backbone Tavern before riding the iconic Devil’s Backbone Trail. We will make a quick pitstop in Blanco for fuel and then ride via Woodcreek through Dripping Springs to Route 12 Filling Station for lunch around 1pm.

This run is scheduled be an epic 150 mile riding experience, having us back to Circuit of The Americas by 3:00pm for more VIP treatment by our Republic of Texas Motorcycle Rally hosts.

Run Summary

On May 22 & 23 we are riding from Waco TX, southeast to New Orleans LA, through MS and north to Memphis TN, then turning southwest through AR back down to TX…more than 1500 miles in less than 36 hours. While on this run we will be encouraging our friends and family, as well as folks we meet along the way, to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Our goal is to raise at least $1500 and every dollar helps save a child’s life. Please help us support this great cause by following the link and give what you can.

Our Beale Street IBA Run is also an Iron Butt Association Bun Burner 1500 & Saddle Sore 1000 qualifier.  On Day 01 riders will rally up at OHC TX HQ to officially depart from Strips (Fueling Station) at 8256 N State Hwy 6 Waco TX 76712 on the morning of Saturday, May 22nd 2021.  We will take a southern route to start, heading through Houston and across the Louisiana coast.  At Lake Pontchartrain we will turn north, up thorough Mississippi to Memphis TN.


We will make Memphis our overnight rest stop.  We’ll grab a BBQ dinner at Rendezvous, a famous “Memphis style” barbecue spot downtown, and explore the iconic Beale Street area.


On Day 02 we’ll depart Memphis , crossing the mighty Mississippi River into Arkansas. We’ll ride southwest through Arkansas’s farming country and the southern edge of the Ozark Mountains, crossing the Red River back into Texas and concluding in Mexia TX.

Road Crew & Other Support

We will not have a Road Crew (safely/supply vehicle) accompanying us.  Ensure that you have prepared to pack everything you need on your bike.  Waterproof packing your gear is recommended.

 Fueling

Fuel stops have been planned throughout the route, with the longest stretch being 120 miles / and an average Saddle Time Interval of approx. 100 miles / 1:30 per segment.  Our Stops along the routes are also planned to provide an ample amount or rest, recovery, stretching and nutritional sustainment opportunities throughout the journey.

Chow

General Meal Plan

Breakfast:  We have ample time to rally up and then get breakfast before we roll out each morning.

Lunch:  Lunches are scheduled along the routes, somewhere between 1100 – 1300 each day.

Dinner:  Dinner is scheduled for once we have completed our Day 01 route and are safely in Memphis.

 

Road Snacks     

Suggested Minimum Packing Checklist per Rider

 Hydration:                            

o   (2) 12 fl. oz. bottles of Essentia Alkaline Water or a similar 9.5 pH Ionized water

o   (1) 12 fl. oz. bottle of Gatorade or a similar sports recovery / sustainment drink

o   (3) Pedialyte individual drink packs for ## fl. oz. of water or similar electrolyte recovery drink mix packs

Energy:                  

o   (3) Pure Protein bars or similar meal supplement bars

o   (3) PowerBars or similar performance energy / sustainment bars
